Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Can CBD help me to sleep?

CBD  may help people sleep. CBD may help to promote relaxation and relax tight muscles.

CBD may also reduce REM sleep behavior disturbances (RBD). RBD causes nightmares and restless sleep.

If your sleeplessness is caused by anxiety or pain, CBD may also help those two issues as well to help you get a more restful nights sleep.

Can CBD help with pain?

Everyone has a cell-signaling system known as the endocannabinoid system (ECS).

Some researchers think that CBD interacts with a core component of the ECS — endocannabinoid receptors in your brain and immune system.

Receptors are tiny proteins attached to your cells. They receive signals, mostly chemical ones, from different stimuli and help your cells respond.

This response creates anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effects that may help with pain management. This means that CBD oil and other products may benefit people with chronic pain, such as chronic back pain.

Can I give CBD to my dog?

Cornell University did a study in 2019 and according to a press release, over 80% of the participating dogs in the study who used the CBD chews saw significant improvements compared to those who received a placebo. Vets who were involved in the study referred to the product as “a game changer that will change the face of veterinary medicine.”

What is CBD?

CBD, short for cannabidiol, is a chemical compound from the Cannabid sativa plant, whish is also known as marijuana or hemp.

It's a naturally occurring substance that's used in products like oils and edibles to impart a feeling of relaxation and calm. Unlike its cousin, delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is the major active ingredient in marijuana, CBD is not psychoactive.

Where does Scarp Farm get their CBD?

Scarp Farm is a small family owned boutique hemp farm. We grow all of our hemp here on our farm.

Can CBD help with anxiety?

CBD is thought to interact with CB1 and CB2 receptors. These receptors are mostly found in the central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system, respectively.

The exact way CBD affects CB1 receptors in the brain isn’t fully understood. However, it may alter serotonin signals.

Serotonin, a neurotransmitter, plays an important role in your mental health. Low serotonin levels are commonly associated with people who have depression. In some cases, not having enough serotonin may also cause anxiety.

The conventional treatment for low serotonin is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI), such as sertraline (Zoloft) or fluoxetine (Prozac). SSRIs are only available by prescription.

Some people with anxiety may be able to manage their condition with CBD instead of an SSRI. However, you should talk to your doctor before making changes to your treatment plan.

Will CBD show up on a drug test?

In the most common workplace drug screen—a urine test—employers aren’t looking for CBD, because CBD has never been found to impair judgment or motor skills.  Full spectrum CBD may cause a positive result for cannabis in very highly sensitive tests.

What are the side effects of CBD?

Though it's often well-tolerated, CBD can cause side effects, such as dry mouth, diarrhea, reduced appetite, drowsiness and fatigue.

What does it feel like to take CBD?

A “runners high” is likely the best way to describe how it makes you feel initially. For those unfamiliar with the “runners high”, it’s essentially a flood of endorphins that lifts the mood in a completely natural way. Users often experience a heightened sense of awareness, ability to focus better and an overall sense of well-being.

Full spectrum CBD oils contain trace amounts of THC, just enough to enhance medicinal and therapeutic benefits, but not enough to get you high.
